[Southeast University News Network, Feb. 26] (Correspondent: Ding Qianwen) Recently, the couple Du Jisheng and Zhang Dejing, the retired teachers of the School of Electrical Engineering of Southeast University, donated RMB 120,000 to support Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University, Southeast University Hospital, and Zhongnan Hospital Affiliated to Wuhan University respectively for epidemic prevention and control. Both Du Jisheng and Zhang Dejing retired from the School of Electrical Engineering of Southeast University, and both are 85 years old this year. Although the couple have retired, considering the difficulty in epidemic prevention and control in Wuhan as well as the complex situation confronted by the school, they decided to donate RMB 35,000 to Southeast University Hospital and Zhongnan Hospital Affiliated to Wuhan University respectively and RMB 50,000 to Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University.

Du Jisheng and his wife Zhang Dejing led a simple life and helped students of Southeast University from economically disadvantageous families to the utmost of their capacity. They’ve sponsored three students in succession. Du Jisheng and Zhang Dejing were transferred to the Department of Electrical Engineering of Nanjing Institute of Technology (currently Southeast University) in 1980. After retirement, teacher Du Jisheng continued his scientific research and published several papers and even monographs. He once won the first prize at the provincial and ministerial level, and is still working hard in terms of national defense researches and making contributions to the vibration test research of national defense weapons in China.
