On June 15, 52 new academicians including 50 academicians and 2 foreign academicians were announced on the official website of Canadian Academy of Engineering. Rui Yong, part-time Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Southeast University, CTO and Senior Vice President of Lenovo Group, was elected as a foreign academician.
Rui Yong, currently CTO and Senior Vice President of Lenovo Group, is responsible for the planning and formulation of Lenovo Group’s technology strategy and R&D direction, and leads the development direction of Lenovo Research Institute. As a CCF Fellow, a CAAI Fellow, an ACM Fellow, an IEEE Fellow, an IAPR Fellow, a SPIE Fellow and an Academician of Academia Europaea, he once served Tsinghua University, Peking University and Southeast University, etc. as visiting professor, and served the School of Artificial Intelligence and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Southeast University as part-time dean since November 2018.
The Canadian Academy of Engineering, established in 1987, is an independent and self-governing non-profit organization.The fellow is determined upon the nomination and election by peers mainly in reference to their outstanding achievements and long-term service in engineering. The academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering is an honorary title awarded by the Canadian Federal Government to represent Canadian national experts and professors in the field of engineering, and serves as a national think tank to provide authoritative viewpoints for the establishment, evaluation and research of national-level programs.
